(Last weeks blog post! computer won't let me make it all pretty colored. 🙁 expect one every week from here on out :))

I was facing Cherub, pouring out the truth I needed to hear that night… that we aren’t defined by who we were, but who we were has brought us to where we are. And I don’t want to lie to myself by letting my past define me still, because it doesn’t. I’ve given it to my Papa many times. It has transformed from a test into my testimony. It has strengthened my witness. It has made me me who I am, but isn’t who I am anymore. The Lord has been made strong in my weakness. I’ve been redeemed in Him! PRAISE JESUS!!!

She took my arm and turned me to face the capital city of Honduras, Telucigapa, in the valley below us. The darkness I had previously been facing was overcome by thousands of city lights glimmering in the valley below the Zion’s Gate (our ministry home) property and a truth was spoken over me. She said, “Do you see that city? Do you see those lights? There are people out there who are going through exactly what you’ve been through and who need your story and your love to find the Lord in their story.” There is more to it, that girl is a fireball. My heart knew it was true.

This wasn’t the only time the city lights became a part of my conversation that night. This country, these people we’ve been praying for long before we even arrived in Honduras were now in front of our very eyes. So real. I was standing near my tent site with two of my teammates Andrew and Ryan, and I told them what Cherub had told me. I told them that there are people out there who need them. The Lord has already prepared the way, they are not here by accident. I told them to look out over the lights of the homes below, some shone brighter than others. I told them that there were lights out there that wanted to be shining but were lost in the darkness, but that the Lord has given US His fire to rekindle the light and to uncover those buried by their brokenness. We are His vessels and we are filled with the Holy Spirit. These people need the truth. The Lord isn’t hiding, they are. The Lord hasn’t forgotten them, they just have to turn around and take His hand. The Lord isn’t mad at them, He has already forgiven them, and He’s ready to wrap his arms around them and speak life into their hearts.

It started to rain. But as I stopped the guys to pray together before they went into their tents, the rain thinned and disappeared. The night was filled with the Power of God in a thunderstorm that resounded through the mountains around us. In the middle of the night God woke me up. I was as wide awake as I’ve ever been. He opened my ears and spoke into my heart. The sound of the thunder raged through the mountains, it bounced throughout the valley below and it was power. The pouring rain rushed like a waterfall down every mountain, through every town, across the ground of the places we’d soon walk. It overwhelmed the valleys and the lightning lit up the darkness. The Lord said that He is all the power we need. He is strong, and his power will never grow weak, but it will resound in our souls like thunder in the mountains. He told me that He is going to flow in like rushing waters, a wave of forgiveness, a wave of grace, and of love. Peace would come to the brokenness in Honduras. He would make them new, He would wash them clean. He said none would be lost in darkness. He is the light of LIFE. He lights up the sky and he knows his children by name. He is longing to know each of us more and more in an intimate relationship.

This truth doesn’t only go for the people of Honduras, this goes for you.  It’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to be broken, but know that your brokenness doesn’t define you. You are defined by more. You are forgiven and you are cherished beyond your comprehension. You are loved with a love that is stronger than any storm that may come your way. You just need to reach for our Savior say by day so He can wrap you in His arms.
