Welp, this is it folks… the final stretch. One week from tomorrow (Saturday) we will begin our 3 days of traveling to Thailand. This week we’ll leave our home at Zion’s gate on Tuesday to go to Villa de Angeles until Saturday morning for debrief… then We’re off to the airport. Since many of you are wondering here’s a brief overview of what I know about our time in Thailand before I get to the actual blog part of this blog… After Traveling for 3 days (and spending 12 hours at LAX and 5 in China might I add!) we will be in Thailand. We’re spending the first week and a half as a squad Bangkok at a YWAM base, then after Thanksgiving we’re splitting up into our (new by that time) teams to go to little villages that our squad leaders haven’t told us about yet! THEN, at the end of December we’ll transition into Woman’s month and “Manistry” where the guys and gals split into two separate ministries. The guys are going into a village or something to that effect, and the girls will be spending the month working with the “She” (spelling?) ministry in the red light district of Phuket! WOOOO! Then around the beginging of Feb we’re already off to South Aftrica! AHHH! Okay… now onto the blog. 🙂
With the last few days coming to a close here in Honduras it’s easy to think a lot, and to get ahead of yourself in anticipation for Thailand. It’s been funny t see as a squad the people who have hung tight and finished strong and those who have been more than ready to leave for a few weeks now. It’s easy to look back on the past couple months and see how much you’ve done but felt that, in perspective, it wasn’t nearly enough to bring Honduras to its knees for the Lord. That’s the lie the enemy wants my squad to believe.
You may recall if you’ve been following for a bit that I wrote a blog one of the first weeks about the storm that came over our mountain one night as I looked over into the valley flooded with city lights and homes and people and the Lord spoke to me telling me He would come in like flood water and save this city, this country…He revealed the truth of what we’ve done here in the past few months while we worshipped around a bonfire last night in the winter wind.
We brought life to dead faiths. We healed in the name of the Lord. Jesus saved countless lives through our testimonies. We taught bible stories in English to adorable school children who will grow up to do the same. We went into villages led by the Holy Spirit and shook the place up for the Lord. We worked tirelessly building gardens and cleaning and picking up thousands of rocks (literally moving a mountain) to make our home more beautiful and to show the boys living here what it truly means to serve whole heartedly. We have relationships that will never fade. We brought light into the darkest place in the city, and the effects of that won’t end. We’ve gone into the most dangerous places of this city and walked fearlessly with the protection and authority of the Holy Spirit, and witnessed and declared freedom and healed and saved.
We could look at the past few months as showing a few people the Lord, but its way more than that. Last night as we looked over the city the Lord showed me what we started. We started an avalanche. If I multiply the things I’ve seen done by the Lord through me by 25, thousands of people have seen the light. When the Lord does amazing things, you can’t help but speak about it, so they tell friends. Those friends tell more friends and thousands upon thousands of people hear the truth. They hear life for the first time, or have fires relit. If I only saw one person know the Lord through this trip, I would be satisfied because that’s one more child back in the arms of their Daddy. But the coolest thing is that God is bigger than that. This country is falling to its knees, one person at a time, but with the power of an avalanche.
I’m sad to go. Sad to leave the relationships I’ve built here, and sad to leave what I’ve called home. But I’ve got a growing anticipation for what’s to come. I’ve still got work to do here. Lots of it. And until I step on that airplane my ministry in Honduras isn’t over. Each person is cherished, and they need to know that.
Don’t take one person in your life for granted. Don’t pass up one opportunity to be an example of the Lord’s love. You could impact just one person, but through that person, you can start an avalanche.
